Phyllis Williams, likes to refer to herself as a native Californian with”Southern roots”. Born in Mississippi, her family moved to California when she was three.
“I’ve always been fascinated with glamor and fashion, as a child I fell in love with old black and white movies and as a teenager I scoured thrift stores and flea markets for vintage clothing.”
She began her career in the cosmetics business in specialty stores working her way up the corporate ladder first in sales, then management and later as an assistant buyer for Buffums Department stores…before returning to her passion Makeup Artistry.
She spent 10 years freelancing for Borghese, Perscriptives, Chanel, Bobbie Brown and Orlane before making the transition into the world of entertainment.
Beginning with music videos, she got her start with the local production company FM Rocks and in 1994 she joined the Makeup Artist and Hairstylist Union Local 706.
Becoming part of the union pushed her career into the direction of TV and films and since 1994 Phyllis has ran the makeup departments for several television shows most recently Scrubs for ABC and JONAS for The Disney Channel. Other shows include Entourage, Girlfriends, My Wife and Kids and Strong Medicine.
